[Rhisonda Project Journal]
This is the story about Rhisonda, the beautiful girl all white and shiny. Scroll your way through years of construction....
OK, Lets start, this project started in school when I was in the second class in college. It was a technical class and we had some education in the workshop learning how to weld, mill and turn. It was time for us to make a "project". First we were supposed to make something practical and then we would write an essay about it. I had some crazy ideas for project but the one I was most eager to make was building a trike. Knowing that a trike project is a LARGE project taking up lots of space in the workshop i was not sure if my teacher would be as happy as i were. Luckily for me he was. First thing to do was to make some drawings. These were the ones that I showed the teacher.
A very basic drawing from top-view..
Very basic drawing from side-view.
I was lucky to get a good old VOLVO engine from my uncle for free, we "found" it deep inside his workshop behind a lot of rubbish. It was of course oily and looking crappy. But it looked like it could work. One of the smartest decisions I've made in life was to build an engine stand for the engine and fire it up BEFORE turning it to pieces. In that case i knew that it was working and what i should aim for after refreshing it. I started it up inside the workshop with a long hose through the window, (no damper). That was pretty cool.
I made an engine stand to be able to start the engine before demounting it into pieces.
I destroyed my old motocross to get the front fork and my uncle gave me the rear axle.
While I was waiting for the tubes to arrive, I started to clean the engine and to polish some aluminium.
Lots of work later, looking better.
Started to put the pieces on the right place and started bending some tubes.
The tubes is starting to take shape.
I put some hard working hours to the engine.
Made some mounting plates to connect the rear axle with the frame.
Fixing the stear head..
First look of the entire bike.
Got a crazy idea that I would build a wheelie bar.
For the wheelie bar.
Bending some tubes for the top of the bike.
The wheelie bar is almost finished. I took the wheels from my inlines.
